Lots of organizations around the world have standardized on Microsoft 365. M365 is a platform that millions of users turn to when creating the documents they use every day to get work done. As such, companies know how important protecting M365 data is. An estimated nearly 10% of M365 customers depend on E5 licenses to do just that.

What data does an E5 license protect?

While E5 licenses may indeed help protect M365 data for that subset of customers, there’s a limit to what they can do. Not only is the licensing model itself complex—there’s a steep learning curve as well. And many of the advanced forensics and file type coverage are prohibitively expensive for all but the largest enterprise customers.

Additionally, those E5 licenses primarily  focus on protecting data within the M365 suite applications. Outside of M365, protection in other applications is limited. That means application suites like Google Docs and thousands of additional SaaS applications don’t have the same level of protection.

Forcepoint DSPM + DLP protect data everywhere, on multiple devices

In contrast, Forcepoint’s data security everywhere approach extends data discovery and classification capabilities well beyond the Microsoft ecosystem, protecting data across multiple cloud platforms, on-premises servers and endpoints, including air-gapped environments.

Our comprehensive data classification and labeling solution ensures businesses remain compliant with regulations like GDPR, HIPAA,  CCPA and more. Our data security everywhere approach unifies policy enforcement across all channels, including endpoints, cloud apps, web and email for consistent and simplified data protection.
